Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal treatment that works on all skin types and hair colors (red, white, grey, and blonde). It is suitable for small areas, including eyebrows, upper lip, bikini line, chin, beard, and underarms. For more pleasing results, our dermatologist Dr. Yassine recommends the combination of electrolysis with the laser.

1. How does electrolysis work?

Electrolysis is a cosmetic treatment that permanently destroys the growth cells of a hair follicle using heat or chemical energy. At Skin Expert Clinic in Beirut, Lebanon, a fine needle probe is inserted into the hair follicle, allowing the flow of electric current, and thus inhibiting hair growth.

2. What should I do before my electrolysis treatment?

Before your treatment, Dr. Yassine recommends that you avoid shaving or plucking the treated area in order not to stimulate hair growth. You can trim the area using facial scissors or clippers.

3. How many electrolysis treatments do I need?

Dr. Yassine recommends several treatments to reduce hair thickness, density, and growth. Indeed, the thickness and density of hair vary from one person to another due to several factors, including health disorders, medications, heritage, and hormones. Hence, we cannot predict the number of treatments you need, but it is usually between ten to twenty treatment sessions.

Post-treatment care:

Sometimes, your skin may become pink and tingly after the treatment. This can last from one to two days, so Dr. Yassine recommends that you:

  • Avoid touching the treated area or contaminating it with bacteria
  • Apply a balm to protect your skin

Say goodbye to unwanted hair!
