Are you feeling uncomfortable with your skin? Are you tired of the pain you experience every time you wax or shave your hair? At our dermatology clinic in Beirut, Lebanon, we have the key to very smooth skin, one that you have been dreaming of your whole life… Laser Hair Removal!

The laser is a superb technology to remove facial hair and body hair, and it is suitable for both men and women. To better know about this treatment, Dr. Yassine answers all your questions and concerns.

1. How does the laser work?

The laser is a cosmetic treatment that breaks down the hair and prevents it from growing using light beams. Unlike electrolysis, a treatment that destroys one hair at a time using heat, the laser can treat areas such as the arm-pits in ten minutes only. It specifically targets dark hair and effectively treats small areas, including bikini and upper lip.

2. Is laser hair removal treatment safe?

At Skin Expert Clinic, Dr. Yassine ensures that the treatment is safe and efficient. Our practitioners are skilled and well-trained; moreover, the machines we use in our dermatology clinic are FDA-approved.

3. What types of lasers are used at Skin Expert Clinic?

The lasers used at Skin Expert Clinic in Beirut, Lebanon, include:
1- Diode laser: removes thick facial hair and body hair no matter what your skin color is
2- Alexandrite laser: specialized for patients with white skin and dark hair
3- ND: Yag laser: ideal for all skin types, including tanned and dark skin. It penetrates the skin deeply with a little scattering of laser energy.

4-When will the hair stop growing?

Luckily, your hair starts to fall off after your first session, but you may have to wait a couple of weeks before this happens.

5. How much does a hair removal session cost?

The cost depends on the area to be treated and the number of sessions. However, at our dermatology clinic, you can always benefit from our packages.

6. Is laser hair removal painful?

It is similar to a feeling of tingling or stinging. That being said, some areas, such as the arm-pits, may hurt more than the arms. Still, if you have sensitive skin, you can apply a topical anesthetic cream.

7. How many laser hair removal sessions do I need?

Usually, you will need six to eight sessions, but this also depends on the area to be treated. For instance, the number of sessions you need for treating your arm-pits is less than that you need for treating your legs or arms.

8. Is laser hair removal right for me?

The laser does not remove white, grey, light blond, or light red hair follicles. Moreover, the results may not be satisfying for women with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), unless they are receiving medical treatment. It is also worth mentioning that if you are trying to remove your facial fuzz (peach fuzz), the laser is not ideal for you, as you may end up with burns. Still, electric epilation can help you get rid of your facial fuzz.

9. Will my hair stop growing permanently after laser hair removal?

After your treatment, you will notice a 90% reduction in hair growth. However, the combination of laser with electric epilation will remove your hair permanently.

Pre-treatment Precautions

Our dermatologist Dr. Yassine recommends that you:

  • Avoid tweezing, waxing, or bleaching the treated areas for at least two weeks before your session
  • Avoid Accutane, Retin A, facial peels, and exfoliating creams before your treatment
  • Avoid applying perfumes or essential oils before your laser session
  • Remove henna on treated areas
  • Shave the areas you wish to treat, except your face, one day before your treatment
  • Do not expose the treated area to the sun or tanning creams at least two weeks before your treatment
  • Remove any makeup, powder, or deodorant

Post-treatment care

After your treatment, you might experience redness, but it usually fades away after a few hours. Dr. Yassine recommends that you apply a sunscreen (SPF 50) on the treated area and avoid rubbing it. You can also use a soothing cream to fasten the healing process.

With the laser, you no longer need your razor!
